Product Description
Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) is a versatile surfactant used as a solubilizer, emulsifier, wetting agent, viscosity modifier, dispersing agent, and stabilizer. It is a nonionic, hydrophilic surfactant derived from sorbitol, ethylene oxide, and oleic acid. It is odorless and soluble in water and alcohols but insoluble in oils. It is commonly used in cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and food products to create stable emulsions and improve the consistency of products. It is also used as a lubricant in eye drops and has been found to inhibit interfacial damage of protein molecules during shipping and handling.
